I've gone into another lapse, and I'm depressed, and/or suicidal...I need some good reasons why I shouldn't kill myself...

ouch been there plenty of times. i usually just ask why i want to kill myself to start with, reasons usually so stupid that i either end up laughing it off, or realizing that the reason is so stupid it really doesn't make any sense.

The sun is shining and the birds are singing.

I have been where you are. Suffered from depression and allmost killed myself when I was younger.
And if that is not enough... life is too valuable to do such a stupid thing. Think of all the people that would miss you. Like us on PBB.

Yeah i rember thous years as a teenager and i had thoush thoughts a few times. But the reason i didnt go on a rampage or killed my self, is becuase i know that being a video game player if i did that, i would only be turned into a poster boy by the Jack tompston wannabes.

Thus i learned when and what is the right time and subject to say "i dont give a #*%$" over. Other than that its all just keeping a happy balance between all of the things that are important to you.

Thank you for caring...I went thru a lapse a couple of years ago, and almost died. One person whom I thought was a good friend, yeah...He threw a going away party.

I've been through bouts of depression before, a lot of them through highschool and college. I never contemplated suicide, but only because I'm an incredibly stubborn person, and to me the though of killing myself would be the same as admitting to the world that it beat me, and I flat-out refuse to be beaten. This world's not getting rid of me that easily...

[stupid grin deleted, comment still nonetheless very serious]

Among the maxims on Lord Naoshige's wall, there was this one: "Matters of great concern should be treated lightly." Master Ittei commented, "Matters of small concern should be treated seriously." - Hagakure

It's the way Vennesa drew it, thus he had no hand in its creation other than provideding a discription.

cassendre, i have been through some depressing times but have never contemplated suicide, so im not going to pretend to know what your going through. i can tell you right now though that suicide is never the answer, im reminded of the old saying "every cloud has a silver lining" just focus on the good things in your life and try not to focus on the bad. if nothing else you always have our shoulders to cry on.

((Hey Assendra-Cassandre, well... being as I only barely know you from the posts you've done, i have to say i feel sorry you're in such a bind... i, um, really can't do much from here, but just want you not to leave... you're fun, in a spunky sort-of-way... i mean, i don't know any other Spainiards, and if you left, I'd be back to knowing zero Spainiards.

...um... yeah... gothyness and i'm freaking horrid at typing compassion stuff... but... don't go.... I kinda like you))

Depression has always been one of my constant battles. I'd been offered medication for it while in the Navy, but declined and opted for the discharge. I never really felt comfortable with the concept of taking a medication to alter my mood. I've tried suicide a number of times, but was never able to follow through with it, usually because I think of everyone I'd hurt in doing so. Generally, I find that if I get overwhelmed it's because I think of a whole bunch of problems at once. If you have a lot on your plate and make a list and find out which problems you can take care of and what order you can take care of them in. Remember, suicide is usually a permanent solution to a temporary problem, so it's rarely worth it.

As a person who experiences hardships almost daily, I can never really say I know how you feel, because I never walked a mile in your shoes. Never surrender to your feelings, or it will rule out common sense, like when I was a kid, and I almost went through with killing myself when I tried to use multi outlet in the bathtub when everything and everyone got me down. I was a horrible student, my parents were divorcing and blamed the reasons on me, I had no friends, and it felt like life was not worth living. If it was'nt for my grandmother, I would never have been changed into what I am now. To me, laughter is actually good medicine, or listen to some inspiring music (I would recommend Skillet: Comatose album).

I've been in that depressed way more than once, Cassandre, and all I can recommend is to find the good in your life and hold onto it. You're out of France, you just got your greencard, you have people who love and care about you, you've just made new friends here. Find the good things and hold onto them, Cassandre, and find something you can do that makes you happy, makes you feel good, and do it as often as possible. The more things you can find that make you feel that way, the better you'll be. Then you'll wake up one morning and realize it's been weeks since you've felt bad. All you have to do is open your eyes, look around, try and you'll find what you need.

When my grandfather died, I sank into a depression, when it happened I blamed myself. 'If only I hadn't come the family wouldn't have stayed up so late,' 'He would have gone to bed sooner...' so on and so forth. What really hit me hard though was the fact that I was the one to find the body. I had never seen or touched a dead body before, and I hope that I should never again have to do so. Soon I realized that no matter how sad I felt, that there was someone who felt worse. My grandfather that died was my fathers father, and Dad was with me that night it happened. I realized that even though I felt sad and hurt it was worst for my father, and I decided that rather than sit around and feel bad that I should be with him and help him.

Anyways what I'm trying to get at is that no matter how bad you feel, no matter how hurt you are there is always someone that is suffering just as much - or more - than you are. I don't say that in a scolding manner, and I don't want to wish to sound like I'm lecturing you. Life on earth is a struggle, you have to spit, kick, claw your way through it, or be consumed by the rising tides. You have reached America, and now you have your greencard. From here on out you have left your old life behind you and begun to walk a new path, be strong. You have a lot personality. Like what Ashton said, hold onto the good things in life.

Thank you everybody. You're helping me out a lot, and i think my husband found out about my depression, because he's hidden all the razors, and rope, and has forbidden anything electric in the bathroom...And he doesn't allow guns in the house in the first place...

And, no Niam. You didn't come on to strong. Thanks everybody. So much.

Group: Skillet
Album: Comatose/Comatose Deluxe Edition
Song: Rebirthing.

When I feel pretty down, this song usually helps.

don't worry, music doesn't set me off. It's other people. If they like, say I'm not worthy of living, then I pretty much downspiral.

That is a downer, but you know, my grandmother once told me that depression is like a chain: The more you let it get to you, the more chains that hold you back. I know you will get through just fine because you seem like a stronger person. lol, hell, you have a guy you like fear you. That means you have powah.

There has already been alot said about it and normily i would let it go but i feel that i should put down a little of what this Owl has on his mind.

Talk to people. Nobody is phycik, so tell them what is up. True some will turn you down but there is alwase a person that will drop what they are doing to sit and chat. I am sure almost every one here will do that. Normaly people would say I know how you feel and what not but I can't. Well that good anyway. Sure i have wondered If i jump out of the vehichle or jumped off a building... But when i get like that i sit down a play a video game. I am sure that dosn't work for alot of poeple but for me it dose. Becouse I can't beleve i am saying this but I basicly have short term memory loss. Anything beyoned a day forget about it i won't remember it. So i try and make alot of friends so when i do forget something one of them will tell me. When i joined this site i did the same thing. Right when i joined i made two friends. They where Sexymanz and Tadelesh. Soon after i started to get more like Symphony and EmpororRaven. Also Saphron. All i did was talk and ask for help. sorry for ranting but talk to your friends and they will help you overcome your problems without serous consoquenses. (prime example) I know i didn't spell that right. Some one mind spelling that for me...
