Watched My Name is Bruce, and I gotta say... Bruce Campbell IS the king of B-movie actors!
Cheryl: You wanna know the truth about us, Bruce? It wasn't the cheating, or the boozing, or even the endless whining that killed our marriage. You just couldn't commit. To your career, to our relationship, or really to much of anything.
Bruce Campbell: [pause] So, the cheating, boozing and endless whining were ok? _________________ "One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster.

I'm a big Clive Barker fan and loved his original short story so I would have loved to have seen that film. |

Silent Running (1971), starring Bruce Dern. Wasn't half bad, I can definitely see how MST3K got its "jumpsuit-wearing guy stranded in outer-space with only robots as company" idea from this movie. I definitely liked the message as well, although I couldn't help but refer to Bruce Dern's character as a "space hippie". Check it out if you haven't seen it already. _________________ Johnny's Fanfics (including Sureshot! A Bon Bon Tale)

Finally watched Fritz the Cat for the first time, been one of those movies I've been interested in seeing for a long time. I've always had something of a love/hate relationship with most of Ralph Bakshi's films (he also directed the original animated Lord of the Rings, Cool World, American Pop, Fire and Ice, and Wizards). While he's one of the pioneers of adult-oriented animation, the low-budgets of most of his films sometimes creates terrible, clunky animation. Some of his films also have a tendency to drift and have fairly non-linear plots that can drive some folks up the walls. Still, this is one of his better animated films, and the meandering of Fritz the Cat's storyline seems to help it rather than hinder.
In some respects, I can understand why it was originally given an X-rating when it was released in 1972, and yet in certain other respects I think it's not nearly as rude and nasty as it's been hyped up to be. Oh, sure, it is still a bit rude and crude, but it's nothing compared to what Japan's adult comic and animation industry ships out every year.
It's funny, it's lewd, it's definitely not P.C.. It takes a satirical look at the political landscape and various movements of the 1960s (the drug movement, the "free love" movement, the civil rights movements, etc.) and very much a timecapsule of the early 1970s. But mostly, it's a lot of fun. _________________ Johnny's Fanfics (including Sureshot! A Bon Bon Tale)

Watching the first season of "The Greatest American Hero". Basically, it's a show from the early 80's about an average guy who recieves a "super-suit" from aliens that gives him superpowers, but he ends up losing the instructions to it. Hilarity ensues... _________________ Johnny's Fanfics (including Sureshot! A Bon Bon Tale)
