A friend of mine got Gundom Crossfire for the ps3 and i got to play it some a little while ago. I was just wondering what is y'alls faverit mobile suit. It dosn't mind if it is a Gundon or a reguler Mobile suit. As for me for some odd reson it is the mobile suit Guncannon. I don't know why but i mainly go melee in the game.

Gotta' love Crossbone Gundam.....it's a giant, robotic pirate!

Outside of that, the ones from 0083 are all awesome....including the Gerbera Tetra, which is TECHNICALLY a Gundam.

really, though, it'd take months on end to list all the ones I really like. Suffice to say, I love me some giant robots.

Crossbone Gundam is from Crossbone Gundam. More or less, Tomino wasn't allowed to do the gigantic series he wanted to make outta' F91 (resulting in a slapped-together movie summary of a series that could have been), so after the F91 movie he finished the story in manga.

On average, there's at least two main forces per series of Gundam. Sometimes three, or four. Five or six, if the writers feel like getting crazy with it.

In GENERAL, most Mobile Suit designs in Universal Century (and a few of the series since) can be broken down into two major design philosophies:

Feddie: The Federation's suits during the One Year War all looked very, very human. If they didn't outright have human-like eyes and helmets, they had police-style visors and the like.

Zeonic: Zeon's mobile suits were designed for spacemen, by spacemen. As such, they tend to have a rather alien, curvy appearance, and all of which tend to have a single, pink eye in the head (the "mono-eye") for which the nickname of Zeon mobile suits tends to be "Cyclopse".

Then there's Gundam Wing, which all had its own style for the "cannon fodder" mecha. They were all based off of the Tallgeese, and incorporated at least some part of its aesthetic in their design.

In G Gundam, every single country of the world had its own Gundam, and its own mobile suit fodder-force. Each was themed to its country, with hilariously ethnically insensitive tendencies. Ah, the Japanese. Still, most of the mecha in the series fell between "Feddie" and "Zeonic" designs

Gundam SEED was more or less meant as a re-telling of Universal Century for modern times, by adding a pile of sparkly boys that nobody can tell if they're women or not. Even with three factions, the design breakdown across both series has been much the same: ZAFT is zeonic, since they're supposed to be Zeon themselves. The Earth-forces guys (dunno the name offhand) are all Feddie suits.

Gundam 00 has some four or five major factions, and much like Gundam Wing, everything seems to have its own design philosophy. Even the Gundams themselves are very radically different from how they would appear in any other series.

a little more info for you on the whole faction thing...

when you think about a seires like this you cant have only one faction... theyneed something to figth against.
mobile suit gindam After wars X had 9 different factions to it.

Turn A gundam only had 2 but with what was going on in the seires you thought they where fighting 20 different factions.

now as far as mobile suites go.....thats a lot....to may to count because of the sheer fact that you also have to count all the customs and moded ones as well because even though they look like the same as another mech they are not...

Not very big? Isn't it the same size as every other mobile suit in that series? And if you're comparing it to the Psycho Gundam, of course it's gonna be tiny. So would anything, compared to that monstrosity.

also, the first Psycho Gundam was killed by ACCIDENT, by a stray beam saber. Just like the Elmeth from the original series, and the Bound Doc.

As to the second Psycho Gundam, the pilot was kind of insane to begin with, what with the whole "cyber newtype" thing. Chamille knew how to kill the thing, he just didn't WANT to, because he liked the girl inside too much. Took out the cockpit with a head shot, feeling sorry for the poor, crazy lady who was somehow convinced she was his sister. Were the Psycho Gundams big? Yeah. Covered in particle cannons? You bet! Particularly useful or dangerous, if you know how to take them down? Not really. They got their couple of episodes, and then Tomino struck, and the girl died. And thus, outside of ZZ Gundam, the things were never, ever seen again.

Fun fact of space combat: Bigger stuff, means bigger target. That's why in latter-day Universal Century, like F91 and Victory Gundam, all the mobile suits are only about 40 feet tall, as opposed to 50 or 60. And, why they stress maneuverability so heavily. And of course, it's why unless a mobile armor has an I-Field generator, it tends to get 'splodey pretty quickly.

now the psyco gundams where not meant for space combat i will agree but now the psyco MKII would and dose speck wise stand a great chance against any mobile suit form the UC era even in space because of the I feild and the manamski particals it has. and the fact that it was build out of gundarium alloy.... witch puts at an armor level like the gundams from wing in a sence of armor.

zata gundam was built to fly circals around pritty much any mobile suit thats why the gundam mark II (AKA Zata gundam) in zata had so little armor because they wanted manuverablity over streingth. in fact if you look at most mobile suits they where built for manuverablity i mean the original gundam had probably about the same armor as a GM.

and you have to admit now the THE O that thing was huge in compairaision yet it was still manuverable as heck i mean it took every thing the main cherector had just to defeat it...

so just because the mobile suits form the later years where in fact bigger they could still keep uup with any of the mobile suis form F91 or Crossbone gundam.

The Mk. II and the Zeta are entirely different Gundams altogether....the Mk. II was more or less the original Gundam with a new, modular frame design. The Zeta was a transforming mobile suit, capable of unassisted atmospheric re-entry. The Zeta actually had more armor than the Mk. II, Hyaku Shiki, and alot of other MS at the time, because of the beam weapons. In general, beams of ionized plasma going into something is pretty much impossible to block with a physical barrier. I mean, the original Gundam's beam rifle would punch through battleships like they weren't even THERE. So, the prevailent design philosophy was "more speed, less armor". Hence why the Mk. II needed a special backpack, to keep up with all the transforming mecha being used by the Titans at the time.

Really, what made the Zeta (and later, the ZZ) fragile wasn't its lack of armor, but because of the complexity of the transformation system.

As to raw power of mobile suits, the F91 and Victory-era mobile suits were actually MORE powerful than those of the One Year War, as well as the Neo Zeon wars. In fact, it's outright addressed in F91, that the Jegans and GM III's of Char's Counterattack are simply incapable of keeping up with the Crossbone Vanguard's smaller, faster, harder-hitting mecha. Hence the roll-out of the F91 Gundam, which features lots of nifties like a beam bazooka, and the Variable Speed Beam Rifles. More or less, imagine a beam cannon that with some fine tuning, would punch right through an I-field or anti-beam coating.

And again, one really needs to look at the reasons the Psycho Gundam only showed up so many times...easy to take out when you know the trick, slow, and the pilots are more or less made so intentionally dysfunctional that they'd never be able to be used for any real length of time. Just like every single other Mobile Armor ever made, even the ones with the I-fields.

As to the Gundarium alloy, one needs to keep in mind that the meaning of the term keeps shifting from Gundam Universe to the next. In Universal Century, it was more or less referring to some form of exotic titanium alloy that was found almost exclusively on the moon. In the specs, it's originally labelled "lunar titanium". In Wing, it's some sort of mystical metal forged in zero-grav reactors at the lagrange points in Earth's orbit. So on and so forth. Thing is, the stuff would be great against physical weapons like say, machinegun bullets from a Zaku. Even in Wing, beam weapons were effectively a silver bullet that could even hurt a Gundam. Mercurius, Vayeate, and the mass-produced Mobile Dolls based off of them were all built out of Gundanium. Didn't make them explode alot less, now did it? Or, how about that Tallgeese? Didn't it get blown to tiny bits what, twice? The stuff's strong, yeah, but it's not invincible.

The Crossbone is only 15 meters tall. The One Year war suits averaged 18 meters. Zeta suits got taller and even taller in ZZ and even bigger in CCA and peaks in Shining Hathaway at about 30 meters for Xi Gundam and Penelope. The came the Era of Scaled MS and then the average became 15 meters for F91 to V.

Actually Gundanium only exists in the AC era. The UC era uses Gundarium formerly known as Luna Titanium. Other eras uses different materials, like 00 uses E-Carbon
