Who else here likes zombies? I've been a zombie fan for many years now. I think that my first zombie experience was with the old Super Nintendo game Zombies Ate My Neighbours. But that wasn't where my interest started, because I wasn't all that interested in the zombies, but rather in some of the other monsters. I Think that where it began for me was when I read a Danish novel called Kadavermarch. It was awesome, and I loved the whole theme of how civilization crumbled and the living dead were everywhere.
Since then I've been interested in movies and books with zombies, though I'm a bit of a purist in that I prefer the slow braindead ones over the fast or intelligent zombies that have become popular today.
So just share your interests and thoughts about zombies. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

Definantly love zombies. ^_^
Started when I became a resident evil fan and since then ive try almost any zombie game and see the movies.
Also a random question: you ever had the thought of what it would be like to be in a abondoned city just standing in the middle of the road hearing the moans and scream of the undead around? Be like a cool yet "oh crap" moment for me. _________________ Fursona Info.

I've never played any of the Resident Evil games, though I own all the movies. Survival horror games just aren't something for me.

I do this too. While walking down a quiet street like you say, or in a place like a mall or an airport. Then I'd imagine it overrun by zombies and look for escape routes or places to barricade. I'm a total geek when it's about something like that. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

I have actually kinda liked the oriental take on zombies... in that you have to use a porcelin mask during the ritual to make the zombies. If you want a pretty good summary of oriental-mythos zombies, AEG and their RPG Legend of the Five Rings actually did a really good job... well... AEG did a really good job on a lot of the oriental mythos as a whole. Mind you, they did blend a lot of it too. So... if you're a purist, you'd probably say something like "They're talking about a mandrin zombie, not a zombie from Siam" or something of the like. So... point being, it is a very different take on zombies... not voodoo zombies, or "mass plague" zombies... more of dark, unholy, magics zombies.
Have any of you seen the "Zombie Survival Guide". In it, it makes a good point. While Shotguns are nice, the real anti-zombie weapon is something more akin to a fireaxe. Don't have to reload those.

Have you tried the Fatal Frame games? Talk about utterly frightening... having to look through that camera really adds a lot of closterphobia to me.

Well... I did get up really early and wander around St. Petersburg, Russia at like 3AM once... it was during the days where the sun doesn't really set. So... it was like 10AM light out at 3AM... and while our group wandered around, the city was abandoned. No creepy voices, but... creepy quiet. |

Hmm. I remember that crowbars are actually very handy anti-zombie weapons, too, as they have other uses than just killing zombies. I can't be bothered to say anything else right now. _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |

I really should read that book some day. I've heard so much good about it, but I always end up picking actual novels instead.

I've never heard of those. To be honest, I'm not much of a gamer. I used to be, but I don't really play many games anymore, and I've never really played horror games.
I tend to look for zombie movies and zombie books though. Regarding movies, there haven't been many I've been interested in. The reason for this is that I'm primarily interested in zombies if there also is a somewhat big scope. Like a global outbreak or such, where civilization comes to an end and the survivors have to rebuild from scratch. Thats easier to convey in books, but I haven't picked up any good ones lately. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

Deja Vu. Yesterday I watched 3 zombie films, and POOF a thread on em. Btw, they where Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil, then House of the Damned. And on top of that I played Dead Space for some reason. *thinks* I am a Zombie fan hugh? _________________ Make Peace or War$, whatever you prefer. LOL |

I've been eying this for a while now. I just tend to pick other books because it's a bit more expensive than most of the other books I buy. I also prefer stories that are told in a more traditional way, rather than a series of interviews with survivors. But I keep hearing good things about it, and one day I'm sure I'll pick it up.
Something I'd like to recommend is a comic called The Walking Dead. It's an ongoing story about a group of people trying to survive after the dead got back up and started eating people. I like how it's about them trying to deal with people having to live the rest of their lives in such a world, so you really follow them through a lot.
It's also quite brutal, and the author is not afraid of killing off his characters.
I definately recommend it to zombie fans. I think it's one of the best zombie stories, and it's pretty much the only comic I care to read anymore. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

The Walking Dead is fantastic. Kirkman is great at shocking you when you think you've seen everything.
The audio version of World War Z is a lot of fun too. They use different actors in the interviews. Mark Hamilll, Henry Rollins, and other cool people. _________________ Owner of the Lion's Den Pub.

I've just finished the ninth trade paperback of The Walking Dead. It was awesome, simply awesome. The story is great, and I really like the direction it's heading. It's just a problem that I don't care for monthly issues, so I have to wait at least six months before the next one.
And I'm looking forward to a book called Patient Zero, which should be out in two months or so. It's apparantly about terrorists causing a zombie plague, or such. It's been too long since I last read a zombie book. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio
