About mankind "harming" the planet, it seems to me to be more along the lines of an evolutionary test. I mean, look at it this way. As a species advances it's society, it will unavoidably advance it's technology in the process in order to adapt to it's new demands. Start with basic tools and more forward from there. Those which cannot or will not adapt are usually swept aside by those that have since they can no longer compete at the same level. Eventually, if a species lives long enough, it will reach a state where it's technology has advanced beyond it's society. Modern society is a passable example of this but I'll go more into that in a minute. At this point the species can no longer wield it's own technology in an manner which does not cause some harm to the society or it's environment. In order for said species to survive and evolve further, it must first learn to control it's technology and wield it safely. Otherwise it will destroy itself (one way or another) and the cycle will begin again.

As to my reference to modern society, here is a good example of what I mean by technology advancing beyond society. Nuclear energy. It has existed for countless years in the unattainable form of stars. In the last century mankind learned to harness this energy. We know how to obtain it in at least two different forms (fission and fusion) that I know about. We know that it is vastly more efficient than our current power systems for the production of the electricity needed to power our cities. We know that it is vastly cleaner and more plentiful than fossil fuels. Yet, the most common use of nuclear energy is in it's most crude an destructive form as weaponry. Yes, there are nuclear power plants in the world, but not nearly enough to say that they are our society's primary source of power. We have this capability but we use it as crudely as a monkey might a specialized socket wrench.

I just thought of an example of an opposite situation. A society outgrowing it's technology/sciences. I am referring to medicine in the Middle Ages in western Europe.

Laughing Why?Leeches are fun!And they are used in modern medicine too Laughing I remember when i was like 7 years old, didn't notice a leech stuck on me.When i saw it i was like"Woow look at this cool pet i found. And it loves me,it wont let me go!!"And i caried it around like a cat, showing it to all my friends Laughing
Ok now back to the matter at hand.As you have said Xebulon, its all a part of our technological evolution and yes,we want to harness and control more power, but as you can see everyone thinks about harnessing now, safety later.
And i think at one point in history we will have to make a choice, keep searching for answers to questions nobody asks, looking for more power and a way to make our lives better or to just stop our technological advancment, one of the choices will save us,the other utterly destroy us.Or maybe we can establish a balance between us and nature enough to ensure our future on this planet. But who knows...a human is such an unpredictable creature Wink

Well,sLaV,it just in the humans"nature" to be greedy.A funny way to describe he human evolution is"an arrogant, lucky monkey, thinking of ways to enjoy himself"most of our technologies are based on luck.Scientists arent allways right, nor know everything.Someone accidentaly knocks down the bottle of whiskie in the pot and WOOW!What do you know! You get cheap and efficient fuel Wink (just kidding)But i do look at life as more of a...way to enjoy myself. All these pleasures in life-food,drinks,sex,w**d heck ill even throw love in there, are ment fo us,lets face it,in the long run humans only seek to enjoy themselfs Very Happy

Aliens.

I know a lot about stuff, kinda like a medium some people see me for.
It's not been to long ago since a lot of questions that I had came an answer.
People ask 'Does God exist'

(PS no offense to anyone who's Christian/catholic so don't take it the wrong way, please. I respect it all.)

There's no god the 'elder' said. God is an evolution of 'Aton' created by the king: Echnaton of the 18th dynasty.

Read the bible many stories are compared to stories about the kings of Egypt.

Example

There's a man who led the people to the 18th Dynasty, his name is Kamozes. He and his brother, together they enslaved the Egyptians from the Hyksos that pressurized them for over a 100 years.
They won but with a cost, of course. Ahmose started the 18th dynasty while the one who started: Seqenenre and his son Kamozes died.

In the 3500 years that story evolved to 'mozes' those stories evolved differently then they used to be. (I study them)

That's what happened with 'God' too.

If people would ask me: do you believe in God, I'd say no.
Even the 'elder' said that : There not even Gods. God is a word for perfection. A god would know all the sorrows in all the worlds that have trouble. A god would be able to fix all the problems that each world and person has. Cause God is perfect.

There many worlds out there. And there will never be a way to reach them. Or perhaps many years from now when our greatX50 grandkids have found a way to travel to other worlds. And still it will take many years to reach them, the distant are to far.

But the wise elder had said : Yes there exist other worlds, many other wonderful worlds. Each must remain on it's own world.
And have peace with what the gift of there world gives. The universe does have an end though, meaning it has an beginning.

Meaning Aliens do exist.

My theories about our race is very... far fetched too.

Sounds a bit poetic no?

Sorry if I sound weird, but I'm weird people say ^-^

I feel like talking about God vs Science.... but the topic is about aliens. So about aliens.... I, for one, believe in aliens... believe that aliens exist because (i think someone said it) if the universe is infinite... there are an infinite number of chances of life, so.... they should exist. I guess that we are one of those chances.

As far as the discussion on God vs. Science, I never felt that there was any real argument of one over the other. Most people want there to be a division between religion and science, but I don't think that faith and logic need to be inherently antagonistic towards eachother. They are both important facets to the human psyche, and I can say without question that too much of one and not enough of the other causes problems. It simply does not pay to allow oneself to become blind to other possibilities and other viewpoints.
Quote:
"We live in a disturbing time, where technology has surpassed religion. We have guided missiles and misguided people." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

When I get into debates over the whole "Does God exist?" thing, I tend to sit back and let others speak their minds, and no matter which side of the debate they're on, I can usually pick up and debate for the otherside. Because I believe both sides are pretty much right. My personal opinion on the matter? God probably exists, but humanity's perceptions of what God is and what its role in our world and our universe are off...
Quote:
"What interests me is whether God had any choice in the creation of the world." - Albert Einstein

I normally love getting into these discussions with people whenever I can, but of course I would warn anyone to tread very carefully on these waters. I don't think I need to remind anyone what can happen when lively discussions flare up into hurtful, unconstructive arguments.

Sound advice JohnnyPsycho. I don't see religion and science as mutually exclusive, as many people seem to do. Take Deism for example. The Deists of the 17th and 18th centuries, predominately scientists, held that religious beliefs must be founded on human reason and observed features of the natural world, and that these sources reveal the existence of one God or supreme being. Basically, take religion, filter out the supernatural until only hard fact is left. Religion as applied to the Scientific Method, more or less).

For another example, take a look at my quote from Nikola Tesla. A man of science if ever there was one (and an absolute genius to boot). His father was a Serbian Orthodox priest and his mother's father was one as well.

Well,i see religion as a way to unite people.Thats what its truly ment for.Organazing the basic human laws, promise for a good future if you belive in God,lending your hand in human aid.Thats religion. But most of the people missunderstand the true meaning of the word.Lets look back at the suffering that many had to endure when the Holy Crusades began. And on the other hand we have the Islamists Jihad-all of them, angry, greedy, arrogant, they use religion as just an excuse for plundering and to fill their desire for more blood. While in truth religion was created to help man in his struggle for survival. For me to have strong faith is not to belive in God,its to belive in your fellow man.Your right Johnny, there needs to be a division between religion and science just to keep a balance.
I did not know that about Tesla...isnt it strange, when a priest has a child it aspires to do great things Very Happy

I've learned all sorts of things about Tesla I had no idea about since I picked up his autobiography. I'm reading through it for the third time already.

not so much a "division" in science and religion (cuz, like Xebulon said, they're not necessarily mutually exclusive). The point I was making in my post was understanding that both are useful and beneficial equally, but that keeping them exclusive from eachother and choosing to focus only on one or the other shuts down one's own ability to see the entire scope of the world and humanity.

Curious I see what you mean.I remember reading that at some point in History, the Middle Ages i think, science and religion crossed each other. While religion at that time had a strong grip on a country's authorety, many scientists were hunted down, being blamed for witchers and warlocks.

Like I said, after lots of studies Christianity must have evolved out of 'Aton'
Cause Echenaton had forbidden to his people to believe in more then one deity.

I speak about a king from 1500 BC
There no records OFFICIALLY records of 'GOD' before then, except the 'legends' that evolved out of stories out of Egypt.

Most records of 'God' come after the death of Echenaton.

I know I'm pretty smart, but I love thinking about these things and making connections...

Ancient Egypt dates certainty all ready 7000 BC! meaning 9000 years people are believing in the ancient gods of Egypt who prefer to be called 'elders' as they said that a 'god/s' are perfect beings and each and everyone is allowed to make mistakes cause perfection does not exist.

I rather believe in 'them' then in 'God'.
I have my reasons for that...

I believe in a crazy theories, we only use our brain 10 percent, I mean only 10 percent. What we all can do with the other 90 is not known for sure, but I'm sure a lot can be done with it. our jaws might drop really badly if we knew.

In ancient egypt people drew furries, like, Inpu (Anubis), Heru (Horus), Othise (Amon/ra)
I think we still do cause there's a connection with it, an old ancient connection. And I believe also some 'aliens' as we call them, look like a furry. How about that? What you think of that idea.

Instead of those boneless look a like freaks, we might have real furries out in space? What you think of that idea?

Ha-ha!It would be nice Laughing sLaV sugested that too. What was it...errr..."The coolest thing will be If they discover a planet like Earth but whit .... gues who living on it.... yep you got it OUR favourite BonBons" and i leave out the rest.No ofence right sLaV? Wink I have been to Egypt and i have to tell you its magnificent! Not the cities,no,most of them are drowning in misery. But the pyramids and the desert is like nothing i've seen before! Its true that the egyptians were a mysterious civilazation and many of their secrets died with them.I read somewhere that they drew their gods as "furries"becose the gods represent perfection. And what is perfect in all its forms-an animal.Thats why they worshiped cats, jackals, eagels and other. To apease their gods Sekmet-the godess of war,in cat form,Anubis-god of death,in jackal form and Horus, the protector of the pharaoh,in eagle form and many more which i wont count right now.
I think its a proven fact that we use 8-10% of our brain. My theory is,that when we unlock the other 90% we will gain abillites like telephaty, tlekenesis and other.Or so i think Very Happy
