Cliffhangers!!!

A very ancient series Space1999, didn't end on a cliff hanger as much as it ended unresolved.
The moon had broken away from Earth's orbit and was drifting through deep space with the inhabitants of the base upon it searching for a new world to colonize. At the end of the second series they had still not found a new home, and there was never a third series commissioned.
However a few years ago a group of fans hired one of the principal actors to film " A last message from Moonbase Alpha" in which she made a recorded message on the base's main computer to say that, the crew had found their new world and had evacuated the base. As the moon would be drifting on away from this new Earth this message would serve to explain to any one who later found the base what had happened.
It was very professional and moving,
