((Sploitation movies are halarious. Especially in how they are named. "Hobo With a Shotgun"... "Machette"... "Blackula"... "Sorority House Massacre"... "The Toxic Avenger"... "I Spit On Your Grave"... "Faster Pussycat: Kill! Kill!"...
So, with all the push to go back to retro-explotation movies of the 70s and 80s, I just thought it would be funny to have a mini thread about fake-splotation movie titles.
So... here's my first thought.
"Horny Vampire Nuns"
The name practically writes itself. )) |

I actually had originally thought "Horny Lesbian Vampire Nuns", and even had a sequel, "Horny Lesbian Vampire Nuns on a Rampage!"
I've been full of those sorts of titles. My other original thought was:
Swallowed Whole
In most horror, you die before the monster eats you.
...which could be a giant, snake, movie, or other, such innuendo.
Though, to be in proper, splotation-mode, naming convention, you could use just one word titles too. Like...
Window
Little Tommy never thought looking out his window, would cause such trouble.
OH! If we're going full throttle on the splotation movies, here's another one:
Teacher's Pet.
Alice just needed a good grade.

"neo-splotation" is my renaming of the old method of "exploitation" movies. Basically an "explotation" movie is a cheap, low-budget, grindhouse movie that usually involves a lot of explosions, cheap sex, violence, and toilet humor. Some real examples of exploitation movies are titles such as:
Ilsa of the SS
Blackula
Black Frankenstein
Faster Pussycat. Kill! Kill!
They're basically cheap ways to cash in. Explotation movies cover "genres" such as "sex with nuns", "bikers", "canibalism", "sexplotation", "gore-splatter movies", "nazisplotation", "shock films", "crime wars", and the like. In some ways, they helped save hollywood during the 60s and 70s.
Anyway, recently Hollywood and video games have been embracing these sorts of cheap movies and releasing new ones, in that same style. "Machette", "Hobo with a Shotgun", "Planet Terror", and "Death Proof" are all examples of recent explotation movies. As such, I grouped them as "neo-splotation."
So... I just thought it would be kinda funny to come up with titles of movies that would be in that sort of explotation style. That is, the movie title pretty much tells you what the entire movie is.

Meet, Dr. Alice Wonder. Dr. Wonder graduated from Johns Hopkins with a a degree in medicine and psychiatry. She came to Howard Phillips Hospital to cure the mentally insane. But what can you do, when the inmates run the asylum?
To me, this one has "70s" splotation written all over it. I can see Dr. Wonder meeting some of the other staff...
Alice backs away from Dr. Milliner, clearly frightened of him.
Alice: "Wha... what are you saying, Dr. Milliner?"
Milliner: "Alice... we're all mad here."
Or meeting some of the other inmates.
Alice looks up from the clipboard.
Alice: Who is this patient, Dr. Milliner?
Milliner chuckles and dry washes his hands.
Milliner: "That's one of our special specimen... er... socialites. She's addicted to Laudanum."
Totally writes itself. And for those of you wondering, a Milliner is a hat-maker. )) |
