For some of you, it may not be a big deal, but to me IT IS A BIG DEAL!!! Evil or Very Mad What grinds my gears is...
When people throw books. I rarely see that happen but it always piss me off every single time it does. Whenever I see someone throwing a book, I feel that they have no respect for the author, the ideas, and knowledge a book possess. To me its just nearly as bad as buring a book. Most recent example of that was a few days ago at my college campus when the campus bookstore was buying back college books from students, I saw that the students working were throwing the books they just brought from students, into the back of the working area. I just wanted to yell at them and say "Do you have no resect for books?!". Exactly what I told off a co-staff member in the yearbook staff last year when we were stacking off books to give to people who brought them and I saw her do the same thing as those guys.... Mad

What is it this time...

Dog Shows!!

Ya know, when rich people parade their dogs around to show them off. It's bad enough we have to listen to them brag about their houses, their cars, their wine cellars and their panic rooms... but their fukkin' pets too?! These are living things, not antiques, stop being a damn prude! It's this purebred superiority bullshit that's caused pet theft to rise to ridiculous levels within the last five years!! Oh, that and "puppy mills". Never heard of a puppy mill? Well, google it and read away, but try not to weep or vomit while ya do it. Yeah, it's that bad!

All the breedeing and the training and the competing... what is this... POKEMON?! It's an animal... LOVE the fukking thing!! Don't turn it into another capitolist fuck job... ASSHOLES!!!

Next on the list...

Gaming Store That Suck!!

Last week, my friends and I were driving around this wasted town of ours and we came across a game and hobby store we had never seen before. It was called, "Arkham Games" and even featured an Elder Sign!! I thought, "Holy Shit... that sounds AWESOME!"

So in we went... and shit... what a load of bullshit. The store had about as much to do with Cthulhu as I do with British Imperialism. Not a goddamn thing!! It was 75% Warhammer supplies. Now I have nothing against Warhammer, but why not call your store something to do with the game you primarily sell?!?! When we asked the guy if he carried Chaosium products, he actually said, "Do they still publish that?!"

WHAT?!?! Are you kidding me?!?! There was one... count it, ONE Chaosium product ON HIS SHELF that had been released no later than the month BEFORE!!! HOLY SHITBALLS!! The guys hours were awesome too... three days a week for four hours a day. Huh?? There was a group of college guys playing some game in the back room, (prolly Warhammer) so I thought a little bit about it. Maybe this was just a way for this guy and his buddies to get out of the house for a few nights a week. Well, that's fine, but don't call it a "Gaming Store" and definately don't give it the name of an obvious Lovecraft reference when you know NOTHING about IT!!!!!!

DAMN!!!

As an employee of an actual gaming/comic store (Titan Games and Comics, look us up if you live in Georgia), I have to say that the hours aren't nearly as awesome as you think.

Actually, lemme rephrase that: The hours would be awesome if we got paid more the minimum wage. I'm the only guy there who doesn't have a real second job, and that's just because I don't have time for one. I still do odd jobs and stuff to make some extra cash, since I'm in college.

I might aswell hop on the band wagon.

You know what Really Really Grinds My Gears
People on the Internet who think they are "1337". You all know who I'm talkin about, those people who online WHENEVER they type, they take out letters, make everything caps and replace some with numbers so their posts end up looking like this: "0MG, U R 5UCH 4 H4X0R5. 1 4M G01NG 70 PWN U N3X7 R0UND!1!!!!!!111!1" This idiotic garbage was from a message on live. I mean honestly, if you can't speak proper English DON'T SPEAK AT ALL! And for all of you that find the above illegible, I envy you.
And that's what Grinds My Gears.

What Really Grinds My Gears... ?

Guess what? I'm not gonna do the rant this time! I found a dead man to do it for me!

A character named Howard Beale from a movie called Network from way back in 1976. One of the BEST rants I've EVER heard! About television and mass media...

Just watch... and LISTEN.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFvT_qEZJf8

Do I need to say more?

Nope.

I hate people like that too. Not only because they spout a load of complete garbage, "You Fail Logic Forever" and fail to make any sort of intelligent or coherent 'speech', but they are also a bunch of people who seem to somehow think they are better than letters.

I guess I'll put my 'two cents' out there for anyone interested. Here's one thing that really grinds my gears;

The tendency of people to just... twist things. For any good thing or message out there, someone somewhere always finds a way to twist it in a way to justify doing practically anything, and it sickens me. One example in a quote from none other than Mohandas Gandhi;
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

I'm far from a Religious person (in fact, that's putting it mildly) but the basic idea is the same; people take good things and twist them into something to justify a ton of bad things. The same example can be seen with Eugenics. Original purpose and the founder's ideals? Something more along the lines of modern screening for hereditary genetic illness, and stuff like that. Under the current interpretation? An extremely Darwinist view, such as justifying a 'Master Race' and things like the idea that intelligence is entirely genetic, and (to a lesser extent) 'stupid people deserve to die'.

The likelihood of this happening seems to increase proportionally to how many people adopt it, too; basically, the more people around the subject, the more likely the thing is to get twisted completely out of line from its original purpose. "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky and dangerous."

That pretty much does it for me. For even more examples on what I was talking about on people twisting or totally misinterpreting things, see here.

what really grinds my gears is people that think just because they watched millions of youtube surgery videos that they know what they are talking about!

as far as i'm concerned, if i went to a doctor for a problem i had and he toldme that he saw how to do the surgery on youtube, i know for a fact i wouldnt want that guy operating on me. i want a doctor that has had hands on experience. not some douchebag that learns about surgery from a youtube video. those videos are there for people that 1. already know about and try to find some tips on how to do it. or 2. people that are interested in maybe going to school for that sort of thing. NOT FOR YOU TO SAY YOUR A FUCKING DOCTOR!!!! if you are one of these people then go to the store and buy yourself a real life. instead of sitting behind a computer for 19 hours a day and still complain that you have nothing to do. i sit behind the computer for maybe 4 hours a day. thats because my wife annoys the hell out of me. but dont try to pass off as a doctor and say stupid shit like "well you have to make an incision on the cerebral cortex and bla bla bla" just because you heard a REAL doctor say it on a youtube video.

Another thing that grinds my gears:

Teenage girls who are obssesed with the twilight series.
I mean honestly, it's just a retarded version of Underworld. Let me just list the number of things I see wrong with it:
1. The two main characters look f$#!ing emo.
2. Vampires aren't supposed to sparkle in sunlight (they're supposed to burn and turn to ash like good little hellraisers)
3. Damn near makes my ear bleed when I go see a regular movie and a commercial of the series come up. Every girl in the theater screams some high pitch squeal that gives me nausea.
4. Don't think the plot is that great.
5. That there is going to be another two movies.

And that's what grinds my gears (for today).

and whats your reason to hate us? have you ever been influenced in any way that would inspire such hatred? or are you just following the current trend of the world today? since most people hate us and for absolutely no good reason at all. they just hate us cause peoples friends hate us, peoples families hate us. and yet no one can give an actual answer as to why that single individual hates america. so unless you yourself has been affected by us, i dont see how your post has any relevance to this thread. in other words, you have no reason or right to hate us. otherwise your just a poser.

It isn't that some hate us for no reason. It's because of our history with the world... We have a tendency to muck things up, whether intentional or not.

all of us u.s. citizens know that our government is crooked. we know that. they will put someone in office that will serve the governments best intrests, not ours. and as a military soldier i have found out why we are still in iraq. it's not even because of the oil. not anymore at least. but i have been over there and there is sooooooooo much money invested into that place right now that if we pulled everything out, we would be in debt indeff. as in forever. we have billions and billions of dollars invested in the middle east. afghanistan to. so at first we know that it was about the oil but when we found out that iraq doesnt want th oil, they just want us out, well we cant exactly pull out just like that. it's gonna take a few more years and thats if we speed up the process. taking out all of our equipment and soldiers would cost so much money. and thats what our government is looking at. the government doesnt care whether or not your husband/wife, bf/gf, mother/father, brother/sister, son/daughter comes home or not. it's all about money. and money is what grinds my gears. and i'm done with this thread because it's already taken a turn for the worst and it's making me mad.

(Ignoring the drama above me... Evil or Very Mad )

Next Subject...

Real-Life furries.

BAD IDEA. REAL BAD!

Think about it... humans haven't even learned how to treat each other, let alone another intelligent species!! Race, religion, creed, sexual orientation... the list goes on. We can't stand NOT to be fukkin' with each other! Now imagine having to share the planet with an another intelligent, non-human species!! It would be District 9 in real life!! The critters would be forced to live in slums and tent communities and would be the constant target of violence, suspicion, intimidation and sexual assault!

People on the internet can't even stand the idea of people fornicating with IMAGINARY furs, let alone REAL ONES!! Would you like the idea of having a torrid relationship with the bunny girl next door, just to get caught and be forced to register as a non-human sex offender?? Hell NO!!

Humans are NOT ready to share the planet with another intelligent species. PERIOD! When love becomes a commodity that ISN'T controlled by the majority (i.e. gay marrige), THEN maybe we'll be on our way. Till then... forget about it.

You also have to take into consideration how the furries get here. Wether they come from other planets or gene splicing. But this is why humans have that great thing called IMAGINATION.

You guys should try being ignorant, there's alot less to worry about and complain about... Unless your also stupid, in which case you complain about and worry about stupid things.

What grinds my Gears is people on forums who quote every single thing going on in their conversation, especially in bigass arguments, Gawd it's usually right above their post anyways

That's what is wrong with humanity, we see something that we don't think is "normal" we seem to have a procedure for that, which I belive goes something like this:
Phase 1: Criticise it.
Phase 2: Degrade it.
Phase 3: Kill it.
And if we find it a threat, we skip right to phase 3.

Moving Right Along...

Metal is now CONFORMIST!!

You don't think so??? Let me spell it out, it sure as hell IS! Let's start with the genre snobs. You know, those assholes who insist that only a handful of bands represent TRUE metal and if you don't listen to those bands, you're a poser! That's a comforting message, do as I do or you suck! Then there's the UNIFORM!! Yeah, we have a uniform now! Black clothes, leather, spikes, chains, piercing and tattoos! If you're not covered with 'em, then you aint a metal fan and you certainly can't be in a metal band. Is that or is that NOT the definition of conformity?!

Metal is (was) supposed to be about REBELLION!! Pissing of the SQUARES!! Not anymore, it's all a big game of follow the leader!!

I have only one rule. If it sounds good, listen to it. If it sounds like SHIT, FUCK it!! How hard is that?

Pretty hard, I guess. Maybe I'm too old for this shit too...

Dammit.

what really grinds my gears is when people my age or older get addicted to drugs. if you arent doing themby a certain point then you just missed it. you can be 32 and wake up one day with a wild hair up your ass and say "i feel like smoking pcp today" that just doesnt happen.

It would seem that the anger I vented so frequently has placed me in a rather precarious position. It would seem that such behaviors and attitudes didn't garner the kind of reactions I had wanted, but, then again, everything is different now.

There was a time when an angry man had his place. History is full of influential curmudeons out to shed light on embarrasing aspects of popular culture. No longer. Such ideas and concepts are things of the past. In a sense, I'm like Don Quixote, charging after wind mills. A strange and disturbed old man, having lost his sense of reality.

The image that the word "emo" conjures is one of greasy black hair, dark clothes, moping, whining and razor scars all over the arms. Certainly not an image I'd ascribe to myself, but , there we are.

So, I no longer will be grinding any gears. Even an old bastard like me can learn something every now and again. Thanks for listening.

Chaos

You make a great number of sense, but that shouldn't stop you from saying what Grinds you're gears.

One of the other things that grinds my gears is, like you said in you're last post, Unifrom.

That severely pisses me off that EVERYTHING these people see, they have to imitate. And then when some other guy steps up EVERYONE has to follow those trends. In the ends, the ones up top have to MIMICKED or you aren't cool, a fan, etc. The great masses are a bunch of imbeciles who don't even know the meaning of stereotyping something and are therefore classified as something they have no [word censored]-ing clue as to what it is.

I have discovered that Rappers think that by dressing up as Kanye, 50 Cent or any other celebrity for that matter makes them cool.
It doesn't!!!
It severely pisses me off that people can't be creative and stop to think and say
"Hey. WTF are we doing?"
In truth, all they do is MIMIC something and they say that they are ORIGINAL.
Right now, my cousin can dress up as Hannah Montana and all the boys and girls in her school come swarming about with bitch ass comments like.
"Whoa awesome!! You are so cool for dressing up like Hannah Montana!!"

There are even those who enjoy mimicking others and even going as far as to reach SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS through MIMICRY!!!
I just can't stand people who think that if other people dress up or act as others can have some sort of kick out of [word censored]-ing them!
Be you're selves, for god's sake!!!!

And that my good friends Grinds my gears.

((...wow, Choasengine,

if it's one thing I hate... it's quitters. And yes, this is me talking. Notice the intro parenthases? Okay, so I made a jab at you, and called you 'angry-emo-boy'. I thought you'd find the humor in it, because I am kinda fond of you. So I gave you a nickname. I name all the things I'm fond of. You didn't like it, so I agreed to not call you it.

And yet... with your last post it fits. Look, life changes. Yes, that sucks. Yes, that takes us out of our comfort zone, and makes us do things that we might as well be sailing a ship in the pitch black of an unholy fog we so don't have any idea where we're going. Quit sitting on the sidelines and complaining, 'oh, rock isn't as hard as it used to be'... 'anime is just the same stuff recycled over and over again'... 'no one likes, angry-mean-guy'. Apparently you have a lot of cynical passion. So freaking use it!

Quit sitting around moping like an emo wreck, and do something. Pick up a new freaking hobby. Play darts, play cards, watch movies with friends. I really don't care what you do. Just don't quit and go all stupid hermit since the world has changed, and you haven't.

You wanna know why I've been hermiting myself for a bit? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway, Chaosengine, because ya done pissed me off, and my anger will be ENGRAVED UPON YOUR SOUL!!!!! (and I hope you realized the cool reference that is from, because I kinda like the fact you get a lot of my weird and often obscure references). At first, yes, I was being all mopey. But, you know what? As dumb as it sounds, I started saying to myself, "what would I do, if I knew I couldn't fail." Yeah, I did. Goth girl said something positive, and used it as a mantra. Get over it. I'm not stupid-goth. And you know what? I decided to try. I decieded to try to go back and get my Masters. And, since my GREs are older than dust, I've been studying to retake the GRE, so I can apply. Yes, it blows. I'd love doing anything else other than reading GRE prep-books, and going to review seminars. But the world has moved, and I better move with it, if I want to keep any sense of sanity.

So, quit whining. Quit feeling left out. Quit kabitzing about everything and its dog. Get up and do something.))
