Real-time communication: What's allowed?

I understand that e-mails and pms are disabled on this forum. However, I would like to chat with some people on a messenger service to maybe get to know them better. With all the restrictions with what information can or cannot be shared, I was wondering if the admins could tell us any messenger programs that WOULD be allowed to be used by members of this site. I know of at least one that doesn't use an e-mail address as a username and is free to sign up for, but was unsure if such sites are allowed to be linked to. So, is there perhaps a list of admin-approved chat programs to be used or an idea to have one included into the site?

Nope. Other then the forum. We discourage outside of community discussion.

We plan to have some form of in-game chat in the future.
