I haven't always had a great life. when i was 13 i found out i was Bi. When i tried to tell my father he laughed and said "quit joking around". i tried again when i was 15. didn't go over to well. he still didn't believe me. So i did a very stupid act, i brought my boyfriend over. he didn't want to accept it. grabbing me he threw me into my room and locked it. all i heard was him yelling at my boyfriend saying he would kill him if he ever came back. and so he left. and i was alone. until he came to my window with a ladder. all i could grab was my laptop and a few memorable items. we went to his house, his parents were a lot more accepting, letting me stay there for the night. In the morning i called my house asking if a could grab my stuff and his son would be gone forever. what shocked me was his response, saying he had no son and never had a child. i haven't seen him for 13 years. quite awhile. me and my ex boyfriend are still friends and im still thankful for what he did. well i just wanted to give out some of my history. well thanks for reading
peace

Damn, all I can say is that a man should not be called a "father" unless he accepts his children no matter what.

I don't think it's a choice, but just the way it is.

I would and will support my children (son and daughter) in any way, shape or form. I will stand by their decisions and support them in their problems. Life is a learning experience and we're all here to learn different things. Respect for their individualism is a large factor in a successful relationship.

This is just my opinion...

There are several factors which could have led him to the way he is. It could have been the way he was brought up, or just his personality. Either way, you should respect his individualism just as you would like him to respect yours. Forgive him, you're much more understanding and open minded than he is, thats just the way it is and was meant to be.

I've had issues with my father too. For several years, I hated him and haven't spoken to him. As I got older, I learned alot about life and people. I've learned to take alot of things with a grain of salt and with the understanding that everyone is different, even if I don't agree with it. For example, he doesn't agree with you about your sexuality, and you don't agree with him about his approach to... err ... fatherhood I guess you could say.

I would think that this is a troublesome issue for you to vent in this forum after 13 years of not speaking to him. I bet he thinks about it as much as you do, if not more. I'm sure this situation is more complicated that a simple post, but I wish you the best of luck with whatever decisions you make.
