i was watching the news the other day, and saw a brief news cast about whats going on in the middle east, soldiers this, marines that, blah blah blah. we hear the same things about the same people all the time(e.g. "a soldier today shot and killed some random guy. the random guy shot at the soldier and blablabla" but then it went on a long ass cast of some celebrity (i wont say any names but you can probably guess who i'm talking about) and their sex life, and what they bought, and how much they're worth. stuff that regular people like most of us really dont care about. but it wasnt until a few minutes ago that i realized why they do that. i think the reason why they do that is to distract people from the real problems in the world. like the trouble in the middle east, like our diminishing resources, like our economic state. it gives us the chance to focus on something else to take families minds off of the war, and helps them to ease their minds, even if it's only for a little while. _________________ my fursona http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9199

All true. The economy is dropping dead, we are in a war and all the media can think about is celebrities and who is making the most money. It sickens me. They say this country is strong, but the truth is... it's not. _________________ My DA & FA

no, they invented pron to take our minds off the problems of the world, and the internet to get that pron out to everyone. what you see on the news is all there is, whether you care about it or not, it's news and it is (by whatever law where ever) the public's right to know that news. if people didn't want to know what's going on in the world then they can just not turn the news on and go fap to some porn all day long. _________________

Even if i agree with Silvador (not completely though.) the world is in a great state of crisis where no one cares much.
Everyone is too busy with they're lives and upgrading technology that they can't stop around enouh to really give a damm about what goes on around them.
They have lived sheltered for a long time and in truth don't give a damm about what happens outside of their own comfort zone.
It is until something does happen that action is needed that the masses react and most of the things they do is freak out and hope that someone else does something about. _________________ http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=238903#238903- Wolf & Grimm!

it's like. you'd think that if you turned on the world news, it would live up to it's name. but instead it wants to cover stories on the worlds best bakery, or electronics buisness, etc.... maybe i'm just stupid for thinking that if i turn on the news, thats exactly what i'll get. but no, instead i get the worst singers from american idol. WHO THE FUCK CARES!!!!! you want the worst singers then go on youtube or myspace and watch it. thats what it's there for. thats not what the news is for. and you'd think that maybe now that we have tv and internet that we can get more news from these two things than a newspaper, but no. i have to read a newspaper, something that people did waaaaaaayyyyyy back then. and it's more efficient than modern technology...............aint that a bitch _________________ my fursona http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9199

Couple things to note:
1 Thats the way most news operates. Practically everything is done by what sells. and what does? unfortunately, its usually not the stuff that matters. It's the crap like American idol and stuff like that. (obviously, I don't care much for that particular show)
2. just read the NYTimes online, or the LATimes or whatever it is that you read. That's what I do. and most of the time, it covers fairly important stuff.
oh and I noticed a couple posts back that the internet was invented to distribute pron? Fraid not. It was created by the military, just like most modern inventions. War funding paid for it. The only reason its public, is cause a bunch of programmers and folks realized that they could do something with it. _________________ Alain Daishar Profile: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8174&highlight= |

Yes, the internet was a military invention, but it's hard to say porn isn't a major part of it, especially considering the place we're posting.
If that wasn't enough Internet is for Porn |

i just find it real stupid how there are channels and shows that are dedicated to entertainment news, even some papers. and i can still watch fox news or the local news and hear 45 minutes of crap that doesnt pertain to anyone watching the news, nor will it ever pertain to us. does anyone care about tiger woods and his sex life....? does paris hiltons new clothing line benefit you in anyway? i could go to mtv, vh1, even fuse to fnd out about that. whats the point of having a music chanel that doesnt even play music anymore. my doctor advised me to stay away from dumb shit like that. it's bad for my blood pressure lol _________________ my fursona http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9199

Human beings; the only creatures on this planet to say "Someone should do something about that" without ever thinking that the 'someone' should be THEM.
Of course, I have no doubt there are people who actually do something; a generalisation of any group of people will invariably get something wrong about some of them, after all. It's just that it always seems to be the painful minority that actually cares about what goes on around them.
As for Celebreties, I don't give a toss about any of them. I barely know any of their names, even; at the end of the day they're just doing glorified jobs that happen to be fairly high-profile, and (depending on who they are and what is being said) the media coverage to them can range from "unwanted" to "fantastic ego massage". |
