for me, in both categories it varies. some movie remakes are way better than the original. And some aren't. same thing with games.
One thing that I will mention is that rarely, rarely is a movie adaptation better than the book it was based on.

Yup, I heard Silent Hill the first game gonna have a remake for the wii and ps2 and psp,
but it looks way different.... XD

remake was better,
the Original was good too but seems harder to beat then the remake version.
but i like the Original style lol notice
the Original have blood effect when you shoot at killer animals or etc.
The Remake only have sparks when shooting something or anthing.

It depends a bit, actually. As for movies, I have seen a handful that I thought were better than the original. But most often, I've thought the remake was utter crap, or simply not as good as the original. So for movies, I have to say originals.
For games, I think I'm gonna stick with originals as well, even though it may vary here too.
